01Platinum rates

Prices by horsepower and term

Prices are per engine and reflect purchase within the first 12 months of engine registration. Coverage begins the day your Mercury Limited Warranty expires, so you are buying additional years of protection, not overlapping ones.

02How it works

Three things about Platinum pricing

  1. Longer terms cost less per year.

    On a 300hp engine, 1 year runs $1,764.00 but 5 years runs $6,791.20, which is $1,358.24 per year. Each added year costs less than the one before it, which is why most buyers take the longest term their engine qualifies for.

    300 to 399.9 hp: our price per year, by term

    The 5-year plan costs $406 less per year than 1 year: 23% less.

    300 to 399.9 hp, our price per year: 1 year $1,764.00, 2 years $1,587.60, 3 years $1,499.47, 4 years $1,428.80, 5 years $1,358.24.

  2. Coverage is non-declining.

    The plan does not shrink as it ages, there is no depreciation schedule, and nothing rebills. You pay once, the coverage runs to its end date, and it transfers to a new owner if you sell.

  3. Total coverage caps at 8 years.

    Factory warranty plus Product Protection cannot exceed 8 combined years, so available terms depend on your engine's factory coverage. The calculator handles that math automatically.

03Late enrollment

The late-enrollment fee, months 13 through 36

Mercury adds a one-time fee per engine (its contract calls it a surcharge) when you enroll more than 12 months after your engine's registration date. Small next to the coverage, but real money.

05Two clocks

Why prices rise, then the window closes

Two different clocks run from your engine's registration date.

  • The price clock. Buy within the first 12 months and you pay the base rate. From month 13, the fee above applies.
  • The eligibility clock. It sets the last day you can buy at all.

The hard deadline

You can purchase Mercury Product Protection until 36 months after your engine's registration date, as long as your Mercury Limited Warranty is still active. After that window closes, this coverage can never be purchased for your engine.

How much does Mercury Product Protection cost for a 300hp outboard?

Between $2,205 and $8,489 at Mercury list price depending on the coverage term. At PowerBoatSupply.com the same plans run $1,764.00 to $6,791.20. The 5-year plan is the most popular choice at $6,791.20, which protects a 300hp engine through year 8 from registration.

Do these prices include the late enrollment surcharge?

No. If your engine was registered 13 to 36 months ago, Mercury adds a one-time surcharge per engine: $35 to $60 for engines under 75hp and $125 to $225 for engines 75hp and up, depending on timing. The tables above show both numbers so you can total your exact cost.

Is it cheaper to buy from my local dealer?

The plan is identical wherever you buy it: registered directly with Mercury Marine and honored by every one of the 3,600+ authorized Mercury dealers in the United States. We sell at 20% or more below Mercury list, and multi-engine or multi-year quotes typically save more. Your local dealer services the engine either way.

Do multi-engine boats get a discount?

Published prices are per engine, but twin, triple, and quad setups are exactly where a custom quote beats the flat web rate. Send your serial numbers through the quote form and we will price the package, usually within one business day.

When do Mercury's rates change?

Mercury updates its published rate chart periodically, typically at the start of a calendar year. The prices on this page were verified against Mercury's current chart in August 2026. Your price is locked at enrollment: Platinum coverage is non-declining and never rebills.
