While in neutral, advance the throttle to about two-thirds, then turn the key while pushing to choke and crank at the same time. Once the engine starts, release the choke and return to neutral.

To break in a new motor properly, follow the instructions in your owner’s manual. First, allow the motor to warm up to operating temperature. After the initial two hours, you can operate the motor normally but avoid running at wide-open throttle for more than five minutes at a time during the next ten hours of use.
