How to Identify Which Magma Grill I Have?

Properly identifying your specific grill is key when shopping for Magma grill mounts and other parts. By knowing the model number, you can be sure that you’re purchasing the appropriate grill component for your needs.

If you have a rectangular grill, the model number is relatively easy to find. Just look on the right side of the appliance and the model number should be listed on either the ignitor or valve box.

When it comes to Magma kettle gas grills, you’ll need to consider the diameter of the grill, as well as the material used to construct the grill handle:

  • 15-inch diameter gas grill (plastic handle) – #A10-205
  • 15-inch diameter gas grill (stainless steel handle) – #A10-207-3
  • 17-inch diameter gas grill (plastic handle) – #A10-215
  • 17-inch diameter gas grill (stainless steel handle) – # A10-217-3

As for the charcoal kettle grills, the model number is determined by diameter:

  • 15-inch diameter – #A10-104
  • 17-inch diameter – A10-114

You can find more information about the model number of your Magma grill, as well as compatible Magma grill parts, by consulting the user’s manual.

When Should I Replace Magma Grill Parts?

Magma offers an expansive selection of replacement parts for marine grill, including:

  • Universal burners
  • Low output valves
  • Radiant plates
  • Electronic ignition
  • Pedestal adapters
  • Grill grates

Replacing components as needed extends the lifespan of your grill and ensures optimal performance. There’s no specific timeline for when replacements should take place, as it typically depends on the frequency with which you use the grill, as well as the conditions the device is regularly subjected to.

When considering replacement components, ask yourself the following questions:

  • Does the part appear rusted, damaged, or discolored?
  • Are you having difficulty using a feature of the grill?
  • Do you use the grill on a regular basis?
  • Are you unable to operate the grill as intended?
  • Is the heating element failing to function properly?

Magma parts and accessories are designed with longevity and reliability in mind. However, they will fall victim to wear and tear over time, so you should consider the above factors when using your grill to ensure timely replacement.

How to Replace Ignitor for a Magma Grill?

Both rectangular and kettle-style Magma grills have ignitors, which provide a spark to ignite gas flowing from the grill valve. A bad ignitor will prevent your grill from functioning correctly, but it’s relatively easy to replace the component.

Rectangular and Kettle Grill Igniter Replacement

  • Begin by removing the grates, radiant plate, and burner, which allows you to access the lid fasteners. Once the fasteners are unscrewed, remove the igniter box screws and cover plate. At this point, you can detach the igniter’s electrode wire.
  • Next, take out the inner liner. Now you should see the igniter and wiring assembly. Unscrew the locking ring on the igniter, then slide the new wire into the inner liner. Using the fasteners you received with the new igniter, connect the wiring to the liner.
  • Slide the wiring through the body of the grill and replace the inner liner. When the wiring is in the igniter box, connect the wire base to the accompanying fitting. Test the igniter to ensure correct installation, then replace the remaining components if your test is successful.

With rectangular grills, you’ll need Allen wrenches to remove some of the components. Also, kettle grills contain fewer parts, which can make assembly and reassembly easier. For more information, refer to your owner’s manual.
