• Serial search is the most accurate way! Mercury serial numbers always start with a number, then 1 letter, then 6 more numbers. If your serial number starts with a letter, add a 0 in front of it. Ex: 1M456789. You can usually find the serial number on the side of the engine block on a small metal tag.
